Both ISOs are in the same directory (the admin account's home). I tried running the Debian 10 install again and that still works just fine. Starting from a completely fresh VM makes no difference. I either get a black screen with the cursor flashing on top forever, the same screen but frozen and the VM eventually crashes, or rarely a segmentation fault / kernel panic (looking that up didn't help). It boots to the first options menu just fine, but selecting Graphical Install, Install, or any troubleshooting mode just fails.

I wanted to start this specific machine over so I tried to install Debian 11. I have this VM that previously had no issues running Debian 10.

Up-to-date on software updates, running a Ryzen 7 5800X, 64 GB of non-ECC RAM, boot drive is a NVMe SSD if that makes any difference. It's a headless server so I setup VMs via command line (virt-install, virsh edit) and Cockpit with the VM manager addon (used to easily connect graphically to complete OS installation).

I'm running KVM and QEMU on a Debian 10 host.
