The original game and content from Battle was released in high-definition on PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Arcade in October 2012. Due to Sega's exit from the video game console manufacturing business, the game was ported to the Nintendo GameCube and re-titled Sonic Adventure 2: Battle, with brand-new features as well as minor changes in the level design. It was released in North America, Europe, and Japan in June 2001 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Sonic the Hedgehog series. The main reason is because it's a vast improvement over Half Life Source, making Black Mesa the Half Life counterpart to Sonic P-06: both are good remakes for good games that were let down in some way: Sonic because it was unfinished and Sega didn't patch it (and did away with making the 360 version superior to PS3 mid development, hence why the demo played better) in favour of hard mode packs, and Half Life 1 because of Half Life Source.Sonic Adventure 2 ( ソニックアドベンチャー2, Sonikku Adobenchā Tsū ?) is a platform video game developed by Sonic Team and published by Sega for the Dreamcast console. I didn't mind Xen in the original and didn't really care how empty and rushed it was compared to the rest of the game world but Black Mesa does indeed improve on it. There's two reasons: For one, while the original is still good, Xen is considered by many one of the weaker parts. Why putting Black Mesa? It's a good remake but the original is still good. It's better to not have errors in the first place but even the best games may still have them, and usually have a fix too just like here. As for the kinds of game error that mods don't fix, that's why we have tech support. Mods can't fix everything but they damn well try and usually do a good enough job.

SA2 has a bit of that too, but it's playing catch-up. And SADX on PC has mods that give us the DC game with the benefits of DX itself. After all, I made do with the Gamecube and Xbox 360 versions of this game and SA1 before I played the Dreamcast ones. Flawed or not, the games are still plenty playable regardless. While it is true that DX and Battle are bad ports with only minor improvements over the superior DC originals if you don't install mods, that wasn't the point: The point was that you can use the mods to play as Tails without the mech if you choose like you said you would welcome.
